Regime Change
Thursday, February 12th, 2009For the past few years I have been really blessed to be a part of a web hosting company called Dogbark.com. They took me from literally knowing nothing about macs, websites, servers, or really anything like that, to a real web guy. I have had the chance to learn a ton about how web servers function, and have learned how to program websites using XHTML, CSS, PHP, JQuery, and MySQL. It’s been an amazing ride, and a great support of my drumming career.
It is with great sadness, and also great excitement, that I am leaving Dogbark to pursue being a musician full-time. I will still be doing contract programming for them as I phase out of being in the office, but I will no longer technically be a part of the company. So many memories, so much learned, and amazing friendships have come out of this job. So it’s been a great experience in my life that I’ll never forget.
Looking ahead this means I am going to have a lot more time to dedicate to practice, meetings, Pro Tools and other things that are going to make me a more powerful musician. I am currently getting to play about 2.5 hours a day when I am not on the road, so I can’t wait to see what I can do with 4 hours a day… hopefully this will turn me into the monster player that I need to be in order to become a true session guy here town.
I plan to pursue more drum lessons with Jim Riley, more practice, more writing and reading charts, and more time working towards the goal of making records this year. I will also be touring as much as possible with 33Miles and with any other act I can get my hands on as well. It’s going to be tough at first, but I am counting on God to provide financially for Nicki and I, and I know that it’s going to open the door for me to be the drummer that I really desire to be.
Thanks for reading!!
